Privacy Policy

ScreenDraw Cut is built to keep your work private. This policy explains what data is involved when you use the app, this website and our checkout. Emcode Limited is responsible for this processing.

The app

Your recordings stay on your Mac. Screen, camera, microphone and system audio are recorded to files on your computer (by default your Movies folder). We never receive them.
No account. The app never sends your recordings, screen, camera or audio anywhere. It only reports anonymous counts (launches and exports), described below.
License activation works offline. Your license key is verified on your Mac.
macOS permissions (Screen Recording, Microphone, Camera, Accessibility) are used only for the features you turn on, and stay under your control in System Settings.

What the app sends to us

The app contacts our own license server (api.screendrawcut.com) only when your Mac is online, and sends as little as possible:

At launch, and after each successful export: a random installation ID, the app version, the operating system (for example "0.1.3" and "macos") and whether the copy is licensed. The installation ID is a random number created by the app the first time it runs; it isn't derived from your Mac's hardware, and isn't linked to your name or email. It lets us count how many people install and use ScreenDraw Cut. We never receive your recordings or what's in them.
If you've activated a license: the app periodically sends your license's order ID (from your Paddle receipt, starting with txn_) to check that the license is still valid. If a license has been blocked (for example after a refund, a chargeback or key sharing), recording and exporting are turned off.

Updates: a few seconds after launch and every few hours, the app reads a small file from our website (screendrawcut.com) that lists the latest version. This request sends nothing about you. If a newer version exists, the app shows it to you; it is downloaded only when you click "Install & restart", and is checked against our signing key and Apple's notarization before it replaces the app.

We use this only to provide and protect licenses. We don't sell it or use it for advertising. If you're offline, nothing is sent and the app keeps working (subject to your license).

Purchases

Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects the details needed to process your order (such as your name, email, billing country and payment information) under its own Privacy Policy. We receive order information from Paddle (for example your email and order ID) to provide your license and support.

Your license key

When you request your key on our license page, your order ID is sent to our license service, which checks the order with Paddle and returns a key containing your email address and order ID. We don't store anything beyond what Paddle already holds for your order.

This website

This website uses the Google Ads tag (gtag.js) to measure how well our ads work, for example whether a visit from an ad led to a download or purchase. Google may set cookies and receive your IP address and the pages you visit; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first, and these cookies stay off unless they accept; anyone can change their choice with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, example videos from YouTube (only when you press play, via youtube-nocookie.com) and, for checkout, Paddle's script; those providers may receive your IP address as part of normal web requests. The ScreenDraw Cut app itself contains no ads or analytics.

Support emails

If you email us, we use your message and address only to help you, and keep them only as long as needed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold. Contact us and we'll help; for payment data, you can also contact Paddle directly.
